How Many Teams are there?
The FIFA Men's World Cup has had 32 teams since France 1998. The competition will include 31 other nations in addition to the host country Qatar which qualified through regional matches. How many nations from each region would be eligible was planned:
- (CAF) Africa: 5
- AFC Asia: 4 (plus 1 playoff qualifier)
- UEFA Europe: 13
- The Caribbean, North and Central America (CONCACAF): 3 (plus 1 playoff qualifier)
- OFC: One playoff qualifier from Oceania
South American CONMEBOL
Two intercontinental playoff matches, which featured the four playoff qualifiers from the list above, featured one nation from each of the four distinct regions and took place in June 2022. In June, Europe's final World Cup qualification spot was also selected. Wales defeated Ukraine on June 5 to claim the single-elimination playoff championship. (Wales and Ukraine won their respective matches against Austria and Scotland to advance to the championship game.) After Ukraine requested a postponement from the original March deadline owing to the Russian invasion, the final European qualifying berth was moved to the June window.

Preparations for FIFA Qatar
The host nation of the 22nd FIFA World CupTM has finished preparations to support the thousands of volunteers, tournament staff, and visiting media in Qatar during the 29-day tournament, which begins when the host nation plays Ecuador on November 20, 2022. Fans Festival

Venues for FIFA Qatar
Fans are welcome to watch live games at the Fan Village Cabins Free Zone if they have hotel reservations at the official fan villages outside of Doha. A World Cup match ticket includes a complimentary Hayya Fan ID card that enables the use of the Doha Metro system. The eight locations where the 64 games will be played are all within a one-hour drive of Doha's city center.
